4 Easy Steps to make Perfect Emulsions

  1. Measure out your water phase with  your desired water soluble ingredients, so it is greater than 60% of the formula weight.  
  2. Heat to 65-70 Deg C 
  3. In the same or separate vessel, for your oil phase, add 5-10% of your CEB-N and choice oils or (Nonpolar ingredient( sunscreen, silicone, vitamins or even color directly to the water phase
  4. Continue mixing while holding the temperature. Once eveything is dispersed and homogenous ,cool down and fill.

Cosmetic Emulsion Bases-CEB's

 

There are three types – Anionic (CEB-A),   Cationic (CEB-C) and Nonionic (CEB-N) – to give you the feel, look, rub-in   characteristics and ingredient compatibility that you need. And all three CEB’s provide the safety,   stability and product aesthetics that your customers expect from your  products. 

The   CEB’s produce white to off-white emulsions (depending greatly upon the color   of the added oil) which can be easily colored as desired with approved   colorants.  There is also very little base   odor to interfere with your added fragrances, botanicals or extracts.

Another   major advantage is that you buy and warehouse a single ingredient, making   inventory and quality control much easier and less time consuming.

Suncoast Spheres

 Glass Beads are transparent when they are applied to the  skin. With typical mean particle size of 10-13 microns they  are able to fit into spaces between larger particles creating a  smooth feel while moving other particles around. When there  are no other particles present in the formulation, they have a  rolling “ball-bearing effect” on the skin creating a smooth  silky feel when used in ranges of 4-7% of the overall  formulation weight. They are excellent for reducing drag and  oily feel while maintaining the oil on the skin without  absorption. Density of the hollow glass beads are around 1.1 g/cc which  helps it to suspend in liquids of both semi-viscous and viscous  formulations like lotions and cremes.  Glass Beads have been known for refracting light and might possibly boost SPF values Hollow Glass Beads come in density ranges of 0.60g/cc - 1.2g/cc and sizes range from 10-50 microns
